Media blasting equipment stripping char from wood framing inside a home

Residential Restoration

Residential media blasting in Northwest Arkansas

When hand sanding would take a week and chemicals would ruin the substrate, blasting is the answer. We match the media to the material so you get a clean surface without gouging what is underneath.

Media blasting is how we strip char and smoke residue off framing after a fire, take decades of paint off brick and log siding, and clean mold and staining out of crawl spaces where nothing else reaches. The choice of media, soda, crushed glass, walnut, sand: depends entirely on what is being cleaned and what has to survive the process.

We contain the work area, protect adjacent surfaces and finishes, and clean up completely.

On restoration jobs the blasted surface is inspected and sealed before rebuild begins.

Step by step

How a blasting job runs

  1. Surface evaluation

We identify the substrate, the coating or contaminant, and select the media and pressure accordingly.

  2. Containment and masking

Adjacent surfaces, windows, fixtures and landscaping are protected before a single grain flies.

  3. Blasting and cleanup and finish prep

Controlled passes strip the surface without damaging sound material underneath. Spent media is collected and removed, and the surface is left ready for sealer, stain or paint.

Questions we get asked

Will blasting damage my wood or brick?

Not when the media and pressure are matched to the substrate. Soda and walnut are gentle enough for soft wood and historic brick; harder media is reserved for steel and concrete.

Is it messy?

There is spent media to collect, which is why containment matters. We tarp, mask and vacuum, and the area is left clean.

Can you blast inside an occupied home?

Yes, with containment and filtration. For larger interior jobs we usually recommend the space be vacant during the work.
