Fire damaged Northwest Arkansas home being secured and boarded up by Surfco

Residential Restoration

Fire and smoke damage restoration for NWA homes

After a house fire, the fire itself is only part of the loss. Smoke, soot and the water used to put it out do damage that keeps spreading for days. Surfco secures the structure the same night and takes it all the way back to livable.

Soot is acidic. Left alone it etches glass, pits metal fixtures, stains grout permanently and drives odor deep into framing and HVAC. The window for reversing most of that is short, so our first visit is about stabilization: board-up, tarping, power and moisture control, and separating what can be saved from what cannot.

From there we clean structure and contents by material type: dry sponge, solvent, ultrasonic or blasting where it is warranted, then seal and rebuild.

Our construction division handles framing, drywall, trim, cabinetry, roofing and paint, so one contract covers the entire recovery.

How we bring a fire-damaged home back

  1. Secure the property

Emergency board-up, roof tarping and site security within hours of the call.

  2. Water and moisture control

Fire suppression water is extracted and the structure dried before it becomes a mold loss.

  3. Soot, smoke and odor removal

Surfaces are cleaned to their material, HVAC is addressed, and odor is treated at the source rather than masked.

  4. Reconstruction

Framing, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, roofing and finishes restored to pre-loss condition or better.

Scope

Included in a residential fire response

  • 24/7 emergency board-up and tarping
  • Contents pack-out, inventory and cleaning
  • Thermal fogging and hydroxyl or ozone odor treatment
  • HVAC duct cleaning and filtration
  • Full-scope reconstruction under one contract

What you get in writing

A line-item scope, photo documentation and a schedule before work starts.

Daily updates come from the project manager assigned to your job, not a call center.

Before we get there

  1. Do not re-enter until the fire department clears the structure.
  2. Leave soot alone. Wiping it grinds residue deeper into the surface.
  3. Do not run the HVAC system. It moves smoke into clean areas.
  4. Photograph what you can safely reach before anything is moved.

Questions we get asked

Can smoke odor really be removed permanently?

Yes, when the source is removed rather than covered. That means cleaning or removing affected porous material, treating the HVAC system and sealing framing where needed. Air fresheners and fogging alone do not hold.

Is anything salvageable after a fire?

More than most homeowners expect. Hard goods, metals, many textiles and a lot of framing often clean up. We inventory and photograph everything before deciding, and you approve the list.

How long does fire restoration take?

Stabilization happens in hours. Cleaning typically runs one to three weeks depending on size, and reconstruction depends on scope, we give you a schedule in writing before work starts.
